About Christine Burke:

Built by Law Enforcement. Proven in Active Casework.

Christine Burke is a nationally recognized forensic genetic genealogist and investigative expert with over 25 years of total investigative experience, including law enforcement, biological family investigations, and cold case resolutions. She is also a recognized police expert in investigative procedures and case development.

She has personally solved dozens of complex cold cases using the exact system taught inside the SolvedCases™ Certification Program — including both biological family cases and active law enforcement cases.

Christine developed the SolvedCases™ Certification System to solve a growing problem in law enforcement: agencies outsourcing critical investigative control to private vendors, hobbyists, or unqualified third parties.

Her mission is simple:
To certify law enforcement personnel to conduct, document, and defend forensic genetic genealogy cases fully in-house — with defensible protocols that hold up in court.

Real Results. Real Impact.

Built for Law Enforcement.

What You'll Learn:

Inside the SolvedCases Program

Case Review: Re-Evaluating Every Case for Missed Opportunities

How to re-examine cold cases through multiple investigative lenses — from STR, Y-DNA, and traditional evidence reviews to genetic genealogy — identifying opportunities that may have been missed in the original investigation or processing.

DNA Method Selection: Choosing the Right Investigative Pathway

How to evaluate the different DNA testing options available (autosomal, Y-DNA, microarray, WGS, etc.) to ensure the correct method is applied for each unique case — protecting both resources and court defensibility.

Vendor Selection: Protecting Evidence & Agency Control

How to evaluate and select third-party vendors while maintaining investigative control, legal compliance, and full chain of custody — while avoiding vendor conflicts, pricing issues, and legal risk.

Targeting the Right Databases for Law Enforcement Use

How to select and target the appropriate DNA databases for law enforcement casework, maximize available match data, and manage database submissions for the highest probability of investigative success.

Match Interpretation: Analyzing Matches for Actionable Leads

How to correctly read, triage, and interpret DNA match data across multiple platforms, allowing investigators to prioritize viable paths of inquiry while minimizing false leads.

Tree Building: Building Defensible Family Structures

How to construct fully-documented family trees that meet investigative standards using an organized, repeatable process — including proprietary organization and tree management methods.

Mastering Elimination Tools: Narrowing The Field Efficiently

Make sense of centimorgans—convert numbers into relationships that actually move your case forward. How to apply specialized elimination strategies to reduce suspect pools, using match data combined with investigative information to quickly remove unviable branches.

Advanced Identification: Solving Complex Relationship Challenges

How to handle complex relationship scenarios like endogamy, adoption, misattributed parentage, and missing branches using advanced data tools and targeted match review.

Building Proof of Identity: Creating Prosecutor-Ready Proof Packages

How to create clear, fully-documented proof packages that meet prosecutorial standards — using verified relationships across both parental lines with full match support.

Report Writing: Writing for Prosecutors, Defense, and Court

How to create standardized, agency-ready investigative reports that prosecutors can submit directly into case files, with fully-defensible visuals that require no genealogy background to understand.

Capstone Case Solve: Full Case Application

Students work a complete supervised case from start to finish using the full investigative model — submitting a complete report package for review and scoring.

Courtroom Prep: Testimony, Briefings & Legal Defense

How to prepare case findings for testimony, depositions, pretrial hearings, and courtroom cross-examination using law enforcement standards of report defense.

FAQ

Who is eligible for this course?

This course is exclusively for sworn or approved law enforcement personnel, including:

  • Investigators

  • Prosecutors

  • Medical examiners or coroners
Verification may be required. Please be sure to REGISTER using your agency email.

What do I need to participate in this course?

To complete the course and participate fully in the training, you’ll need:

  • ✅ An active Ancestry.com World Explorer subscription for the duration of the program. (We are not affiliated with Ancestry.com.)

  • ✅ A laptop or desktop computer. Dual monitors are strongly recommended.

  • Stable internet connection capable of file downloads/uploads and database access.

  • ✅ Ability to create family trees and maintain secure investigation folders.

  • Optional: ProTools subscription for Ancestry (recommended for advanced tree building).

How long will I have access to the materials?

You’ll have full access to all recordings, materials, and resources for the full 12-week duration of your program.

After your cohort ends, graduates have the option to continue with ongoing access, advanced case discussions, and additional support through the Task Force membership, where you’ll receive continued guidance as you apply these methods in real-world casework.

Is this program POST- or IADLEST-certified?

This program is not currently POST- or IADLEST-certified in its current format, but I am a certified instructor with both.

If your agency or state requires approval, I’m happy to work with you to submit the course for review. You’ll need to provide the appropriate forms or requirements in advance, ideally before your cohort begins.

Many agencies can secure in-service credit or POST recognition with proper documentation—we’re glad to support that process.

Can we license the full program for our agency?

Yes — group licensing is available for departments of any size. Flexible enrollment options for teams of 5 or more.

Do students receive full certification after completing the course?

Students receive a Certificate of Completion after finishing the 12-week program and supervised Capstone Case. Full FGG® Credential requires completion of two additional supervised cases.

Can we use grant funds or agency training budgets?

Yes — many agencies have successfully funded enrollment through training budgets, grants, or cold case initiatives.

Is ongoing support available after initial training?

Yes — Task Force access provides continued case support for agencies handling live investigations.

Why isn’t this training taught live?

The certification program is built specifically for law enforcement schedules, which often involve shifts, court duty, case demands, and varying agency operations. The full curriculum is delivered through on-demand, pre-recorded modules so personnel can complete training at their own pace while still working active cases. Supervised Capstone Case review ensures application and proficiency without requiring live attendance.
